In this week’s #WhatTheHellHappened, we caught up with Jodi, who originally wrote in because she was concerned about dating at her age. She was 42, divorced, traveled often, didn’t like to drink or go to bars and didn’t like that men only seemed to want one thing on dating apps (spoiler: it was sex). She felt like she was running out of options for dating. To that, my mother advised: “Get your boobs out, your heels on, and get back out there! You’re single! The world is your oyster! And you don’t even have your spawn dragging you down every day!” She also suggested talking to her Rabbi because Rabbi’s “know sperminators everywhere.”
So, #WhatTheHellHappened? Here’s a refresher on Jodi’s original story, and an update from her below!
“Hi, I am a 42-year-old, divorced, mother of 2 grown daughters…I work away from home for 28 days and I am home for 28 days.. I don’t drink and don’t go to bars because that’s not who I am. I attend a very small synagogue so no single men there and most men on dating sites only want one thing and I am worth more than that…so how do I go about finding someone at an older age??” – Jodi
So, #WhatTheHellHappened to her?
“Hi ladies, things have changed drastically for me since I wrote in the first time. I took Mom’s advice and went to my Rabbi, but he didn’t give me the advice I was looking for, instead he asked me if I had prayed for my ideal man? He told me to go home and make a list of what and who my ideal man would be and bring it back the next Shabbat and we would pray over the list and so I did. After we prayed I tucked the list in my Bible and forgot about it. Months went by then my phone rang and it was a wrong number, I told the gentleman that he had the wrong number but I sure did hope he found who he was looking for. Later that night he actually called back to thank me for being so kind and we started talking. Turned out that even though his number was from a different state we lived less than a mile from each other. Two days later which just happened to be my birthday we met for the first time and we have been inseparable since. He matched and surpassed my list by a mile so on October 7th 2018 I stole his last name and went from a Ms. to Mrs. Adonai gave me the best birthday present ever and I plan to cherish it the rest of my life. You ladies are amazing. Thank you for such great advice..I owe you big time!! Be blessed!” -Jodi
